EVOLUTION OF NEW POP(ULAR) MUSIC
Music is an art which helps different types of people across the world to communicate or share their tastes, interests, opinions and beliefs with each other. The creation, performance, significance, and even the definition of music vary according to culture and social context. We have number of genres of music
belonging to a shared tradition or set of conventions. Just like any other genre we invest out interest in, we have K-pop ( 케이팝 ) , a genre of popular music originating in South Korea tracked back to early 90s. I was inaugurated to Kpop when I first listened to BTS song - FIRE. It was indeed difficult to know the lyrics but the beat and visuals were so catchy that I couldn't refrain myself but get into kpop much deeper. On knowing more and more, I get to know that they have "idol" culture which was began with the boy band H.O.T. in 1996, as K-pop grew into a subculture that amassed enormous fandoms of teenagers and young adults. It is hell difficult to be a kpop trainee and make your mark in the world through your music. Ummm.... you know when toothpaste tube is almost empty but you want to squeeze every inch out of it? That's what kpop companys do to their trainee - Bring the best out of them. The age range of the trainees when they first join the company is 10yrs to 18yrs. Just imagine!!! working for 16 hours dancing and singing at the age of 10? Didn't you get goosebumps?
There are over 370 Kpop groups from the 90s to today. Some are known to the world and some are famous in South Korea only. But this doesn't mean that they have worked any less. People used to underestimate Kpop and make of the idols just because they use makeup. Who doesn't want to look their best? Today, BTS is the biggest boy band in the world after The Beatles and One Direction. They have a total of 136.4M fans called ARMY - Adorable Representative MC for Youth. Isn't it a ginormous deal for a korean boy band, but that's a lot coming from a band who doesn't sing in english?? People misunderstand AMRY with "Indian Army". Do you even have brain? These two terms are evidently different. These 7 boys have worked very hard and put all of their best efforts for being at the position where they are today. Oh, yes! I'm an ARMY and I don't intent to turn ya into one. People have right for their own choices. But this doesn't mean that you defame someone else! I'm talking about people who like to puke about BTS and other kpop bands. It's really easy to talk because your tongue doesn't get tired! but when it comes to doing something, that's where you fail. BTS has worked phenomenally hard to get everything they deserve. They have been to GRAMMYs ( which is every singer's dream) , their albums from past 3 years have been in top 100 consecutively, they have made $1 million to Black Lives Matter and they have always help the needy irrespective of their status. Is it something difficult to understand?
Yes, they apply makeup. Yes, they wear fancy clothes. Yes, they wear earrings. So what? Shouldn't these be their personal choices? Who are we to interfere in their lives? Are you Jungkook's uncle or Suga's? They do not look like girls. They are not gays. I mean really? Jhope had a 5 years relationship with a girl in his school days. I am not justifying the fact (I need not to) but the point here is, that you should first know about someone and then libel them. And any problem with their names? RM, V, Suga, Jhope are their STAGE NAMES just like any other music artist. If it is "Badshah" then you have no problem ( even if he's not so) but if BTS members have such simple stage names, then you're triggered? Anyways, haters and trolls are getting their living by commenting on hardworking idols. Do you see? They are doing good to you even this way. They're such pure hearts! There is no problem in not liking some artist. But if you still keep talking about them, you're merely increasing their fandom. No matter how hard you try, Kpop artists are still going to work hard and gain better success than ever. In fact, only number of supporters matters!
